Visit La Catrina y El Catrin
No, not this year. Instead, we are decorating the track at GP&S with seasonal and family-friendly installations to be enjoyed during daylight hours as an “I Spy Halloween” event along with a weekend festival of games and activities. The train takes our passenger guests on a mile-long loop at Griffith Park & Southern Railroad, over a bridge, through a tunnel, and past our Old Frontier town. The ride is approximately 8 to 10 minutes long, winding through the natural landscape of our section of Griffith Park.
Hidden along the track, within eye sight of the train, will be special pumpkins and decor for you to find and enjoy from the train.
The decor and Pumpkin Patch event was designed in consideration of children ages 12 years and younger, but all ages and abilities are enthusiastically welcome on our train and to our events.

Yes. For the train ride and festivities, but not for the visit with El Catrin or La Catrina.
You can purchase tickets online, with additional convenience and service fees, or you can purchase tickets any day we are open at our ticket booth.
Except in the case of rain or a weather event, we run our trains everyday from 10am to 4:30pm weekdays/10am to 5:00pm weekends. Any wait time is less than 20 minutes, unless we are closed for lunch or breaks.
Our tickets are nonrefundable tickets. If you find you cannot use your tickets for the day you purchased them for, we will be happy to accommodate you for another day, assuming we have the capacity.
This event is only during Saturdays and Sundays (the weekend) in October.
If we (Griffith Park Train Rides) must cancel, close or delay because of weather, we will be happy to accommodate you on another day, or refund your ticket.
We welcome guests of all abilities. However, because our train cars are antique and compact, we are unable to accommodate a wheelchair or walker directly in the car. A guest may use their chair or walker on the platform, but must be able to step up or be lifted 8 inches from the ground to clear the car entrance. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to physically assist our guests with these accommodations.
In addition, in the activity area which is covered in decomposed granite, a wheelchair or walker must be able to navigate ground that will be softer than asphalt or cement.
We do not require proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test. We do not require our guests to wear masks, although we are supportive and encouraging of any guest who does.
You may purchase tickets in advance or on the day of the event, (assuming we have capacity).
No. This is a special event and our value tickets do not apply.
In addition, we cannot exchange your value ticket and apply the difference. You must purchase a separate ticket for this event.
Thank you for understanding.
We do not offer group discounts for our special events. We work hard to keep our ticket prices, regular or special, as low as possible so as many people as possible can afford to enjoy the train rides.
Thank you for understanding.
Yes! Our talented staff have constructed a fun Halloween themed photo opportunity for our guests, free of charge.
We also have tickets available for a photo opportunity with El Catrin or La Catrina, on a first-come-first-serve basis on the day you attend.
For our special events, we often sell out the day before, or the day of our event. We stop selling tickets when we know we have reached our capacity for that day.
We do our best to post on our socials and website when there is no longer any ticket availability.
Yes! Our neighbors at the Griffith Park Cafe have a lovely menu with specialty coffee drinks, boba teas, hot and fresh made food, as well as sweets, popcorn, and cotton candy. They are open for breakfast and lunch, closing at 4:00pm daily.
