Our Easter event at Griffith Park & Southern Railroad.
Celebrate spring with us! Join us for The Griffith Park Train Rides week long Easter celebration! There will be a special train ride and “hunt” with goody bags and photo opportunities, and on Easter weekend, an opportunity to visit with the Easter Bunny!
Easter Bunny Weekend! Come visit with the Easter Bunny:
Not exactly. It’s more like an “I Spy” game crossed with a scavenger hunt.
This special event takes our passenger guests on a mile-long loop at Griffith Park & Southern Railroad, over a bridge, through a tunnel, and past our Old Frontier town. The ride is approximately 8 to 10 minutes long, winding through the natural landscape of our section of Griffith Park.
Hidden along the track, within eye sight of the train, will be special Easter eggs for you to “spy” and record on your special map. At the end of your ride, you will turn in your map in exchange for a special Easter egg gift.
Our “I Spy Easter” Train Ride and activities were created with the ages 10 years old and under crowd in mind, BUT all ages and abilities are always welcome to ride and participate.
No. No one may exit the train at anytime, except when loading or unloading at our station. Please stay seated, with arms and legs inside the cars at all times. For parents with young children, this is particularly important.

We understand that life/illness/traffic/atmospheric rivers can happen.
If you purchased your tickets in advance, and you are unable to come the day you purchased it for, you may exchange them for a different day as long as we have capacity to accommodate you.
Please understand that the tickets are non-refundable.
If rain or a weather event forces US to cancel or delay, you may either come a different day or request a refund.
Our tickets nonrefundable tickets. If you find you cannot use your tickets for the day you purchased them for, we will be happy to accommodate you for another day, assuming we have the capacity.
This is a limited time event for one week only.
If we (Griffith Park Train Rides) must cancel, close or delay because of weather, we will be happy to accommodate you on another day, or refund your ticket.
FREE parking is available in the parking lot adjacent to the trains, as well as an overflow lot a few hundred yards away. Generally, any parking in Griffith Park is free, with limited exceptions.
We will make every effort to provide light for security and safety, but don’t hesitate to bring headlamps or flashlights if you are concerned.
We welcome guests of all abilities. However, because our train cars are antique and compact, we are unable to accommodate a wheelchair or walker directly in the car. A guest may use their chair or walker on the platform, but must be able to step up or be lifted 8 inches from the ground to clear the car entrance. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to physically assist our guests with these accommodations.
In addition, in the activity area which is covered in decomposed granite, a wheelchair or walker must be able to navigate ground that will be softer than asphalt or cement.
We do not require proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test. We do not require our guests to wear masks, although we are supportive and encouraging of any guest who does.
There are two ticket options for our Easter weekend.
“I Spy Easter” Train Ride tickets are $5 per person (18 months and younger are free).
Visit with the Easter Bunny is $7 per visit (maximum of 6 people per visit).
TICKETS are AVAILABLE FOR ADVANCE PURCHASE NOW. You may also purchase tickets the day of the event.
No. This is a special event that requires a separate ticket for each person. The cost is $5 per person for the “I Spy Easter” Train Ride and $7 per visit with the Easter Bunny if tickets are purchased in-person. Online tickets may be available with a convenience fee.
We do not offer group discounts. We work hard to keep our ticket prices affordable so as many people as possible can enjoy this event. If you do have a large, single group attending (more than 20), and are unsure how to proceed, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.
Yes! Our talented staff have constructed and hand-painted beautiful open-air “photo booths” for our passengers and guests who join us!
We stop selling tickets when we know we have reached our capacity for that day, but we do our best to warn you ahead of time, especially if you are standing in line at our window.

TRAIN BOARDING LINE:
VISIT WITH THE EASTER BUNNY
We do our very best to ensure guests have a fantastic experience, including moving the lines as quickly as possible, but we understand how frustrating and disappointing waiting can be with young children, cool temperatures, and standing in line. Please dress according to the weather for our area, and consider purchasing snacks at our neighbor’s at the Griffith Park Cafe. And as always, let us know how we can continue to improve.
The Griffith Park Cafe, adjacent to the train ride, is open Wednesday to Sunday. Their menu consists of items like breakfast burritos, burgers, hot dogs, cotton candy, as well as specialty tea and coffee beverages. Feel free to bring a picnic too! There are picnic tables throughout the park, as well as a few south of our area and within walking distance. There are also grassy areas for a blanket within a short walk of the trains.
If you wish for a full meal, or are concerned about access to food, we encourage you to enjoy many of the fantastic local restaurants and eateries in the area either before or after your ride. In addition, bringing along a snack bag while waiting in line is always an option (although food and drink are NOT allowed on the ride itself or within the activity area).
Yes! The toy booth will be open during our regular hours.
Animals, including small pets, are not allowed on the train, with the exception of service dogs.
